Crowdfunding campaign launched for Logansport “Trail Security Cameras” Project

Last Updated on February 20, 2019 by cassnetwork

LOGANSPORT – A new crowdfunding campaign launched Tuesday aims to make the trail system in Logansport safer by adding security cameras and additional bicycle patrols and markers. The campaign is sponsored by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) and offered through the crowdfunding platform developed by Patronicity. The campaign is led by the City of Logansport.

“The safety and security of our trail systems have become increasingly important,” said Jacob Sipe, Executive Director of IHCDA. “We commend the City of Logansport in their efforts to ensure residents and visitors to their community feel safe when using their trailway system.”

If the campaign reaches its $16,500 goal by March 29 the “Trail Security Camera” project will receive a matching grant of $16,500 from IHCDA’s CreatINg Places program.

The funding raised during this campaign will outfit four community trails with security cameras and provide for additional bicycle patrols and markers.

“The Logansport trails welcome you to bring a dog or your bike, or just enjoy a good nature hike,” said Mercedes Brugh, Deputy Mayor. “We are excited to have cameras to record activities, but please do not disregard safety and accountabilities.”

Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised in excess of $1,980,000 in public funds and an additional $1,693,000 in matching IHCDA funds.

The CreatINg Places program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and Local Units of Government are eligible to apply.

Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should they successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
