Frohreich chosen as ‘Citizen of the Week’

Last Updated on April 22, 2019 by cassnetwork

A Logansport native who recently published a book is recognized this week as the community’s outstanding citizen.

Keith Frohreich recently released “Blackberries are Red when Green” based on his formative years in Cass County. He drew upon those experiences and life along the Eel River for his work.

Frohreich was chosen “Citizen of the Week” today for his efforts. He has been writing for more than a decade after retiring from a career with Denny’s and Sizzler.

“Keith is a true testament to the impact of life in our community after someone leaves it,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said. “He has never been shy about his love for his hometown and the impact the place and the people had on his success in life.”

Frohreich graduated from Logansport High School in the 1960s and continued his love of music that began in high school as a member of Up With People, a nationwide choral initiative. After serving in the military and graduating from college, he married and became a California resident. He and his wife, Pam, who sang with him in Up With People, are retired parents of two children and one grandchild.

Frohreich began his writing career as an unpaid contributing columnist to the Logansport Pharos-Tribune.

He will receive a $20 gift certificate to a local restaurant and a certificate from the Mayor’s Office. The Citizen of the Week is sponsored by the Mayor’s Office and recognizes local natives, residents or former residents.
