A Logansport vocalist who recently sang the national anthem at the IHSAA basketball finals in Indianapolis received a special city honor Monday.

Sophia Rozzi was part of the festivities for the state championship in Indianapolis. Mayor Dave Kitchell announced Monday during Good Government Day ceremonies at McHale Performing Arts Center that she is the Citizen of the Week.

“It’s emblematic of our music department and our school community that we produce great talents like Sophia,” Kitchell said. “For those who are nervous in front of crowds, what she did is no easy feat, but she was flawless. Had it not been for Spring Break, I think more people would have appreciated her performance on one of the stage’s with the greatest exposure in the state of Indiana.”

Sophia is the daughter of Brad and Lyndsey Rozzi of Logansport. She will receive a $20 gift certificate to a local restaurant and a certificate from the Mayor’s Office. The Citizen of the Week is sponsored by the Mayor’s Office and recognizes local natives, residents or former residents.
