SOURCE: News release from Cass County Sheriff Ed Schroder

On Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at approximately 12:47 PM Cass County Central Dispatch received a call of a semi crash on US 35 North of CR 100 North. Sheriff Ed Schroder, Sergeant Pat Zeider and Deputy Scott Turney responded to the crash with Indiana Conservation Officers, Cass County Fire District 1, Royal Center Fire Department and Prompt Ambulance Service. Initial investigation found a head on-two vehicle crash resulted in the death of a Logansport man.

Preliminary investigation by Sergeant Zeider found 28 year old Brandon Campbell of rural Logansport, IN, was driving a 1993 Peterbilt with a loaded grain trailer southbound on US 35 when he drove left of center to avoid stopped vehicles in his lane. Campbell’s vehicle stuck a northbound 2019 Jeep Wrangler driven by 50 year old Tim Willis of Logansport, IN. The force of the collision caused both vehicles to come to rest on the east side of US 35 north.

Samaritan Helicopter was requested at the scene by medical personnel to airlift Mr. Willis but he was pronounced dead at the scene by Cass County Coroner Randy Rozzi before the flight.

Also, assisting at the scene were members of the Logansport Police Department and the Indiana State Police Department.

The crash is still under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s office. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 574-753-7800.
