Usually, the site of Stan Hillis includes either a stethoscope or a flute.
Such is the life of an accomplished cardiologist and musician who is a Logansport native.
Dr. Stan Hillis will be recognized in the upcoming Logansport High School induction into the Logansport High School Hall of Fame. Mayor Dave Kitchell has echoed that selection by naming Dr. Hillis this week’s recipient of the Citizen of the Week.
“Dr. Hillis is a tremendous ambassador for Logansport and what people from here can accomplish in their careers,” Mayor Kitchell said in issuing the announcement. “Many career paths lead away from Logansport, but Stan’s has led him back here to practice part of the time, and he has always had a spot in his heart for his hometown.”
While heart patients have come to know him on a one-on-one basis, scores of Logansport residents have known him for his jazz flute performances with the late Med Flory, a Grammy Award winner and good friend.
Hillis will receive a $20 gift certificate as well as a certificate from the Mayor’s Office. The Citizen of the Week is sponsored by the city and recognizes former Logansport residents, current residents and natives for their contributions.
