Crash causes rollover at US 24/US 35 Tyson exchange

On Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019 at approximately 12:29 p.m., Cass County Central Dispatch was notified of a two vehicle crash near the Tyson exchange of US 24/US 35. Several deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and a trooper with the Indiana State Police responded to the scene. Units from Logansport Fire, Walton Fire and Prompt Ambulance Service also responded to the crash. Initial scene assessment found two passenger vehicles collided, resulting in one of them rolling over.

Preliminary investigation by Deputy Scott Turney found that Thomas Brackett, 76, of Warsaw, Ind., had been driving a 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser westbound on the collector ramp of SR 29/US 24 when he field to yield the right of way. The Toyota was struck by a 2018 Subaru Forrester being driven southbound on US 24/US 35 by Tommy Bonnell of Winamac, IN. The Toyota Land Cruiser rolled over twice after the collision and came to rest upright. Both drivers refused medical treatment at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the office at 574-753-7800.
