Robert N. “Bob” Sabatini

Robert N. “Bob” Sabatini, 82, a lifelong resident of Logansport passed away at 1:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at his residence.

Born on October 3, 1936 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Jess and Incoronate (Forte) Sabatini.

He was a 1954 Logansport High School graduate where he excelled in football.

On October 26, 1977 he married Nancy E. Felker, she survives.

Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960. He started his career in law enforcement as a Cass County Sheriff’s Deputy before graduating from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1966. He was an Indiana State Police Officer for 20 years, retiring in September of 1986 as a Sergeant/Detective.After retiring from the Indiana State Police, Bob was voted to the Indiana State House of Representatives where he served two terms from 1988 to 1992. Bob also served one term as Cass County Sheriff from 1992 to 1996.

Bob was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Cass County Heart Association, Fraternal Order of Police, American Legion, Cass County Historical Society, Indiana State Police Alliance, Eagles and the William Pace Lodge- Sons of Italy.

Bob was also a 1992 Sagamore of the Wabash recipient by then Governor Evan Bayh.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Sabatini of Logansport, nieces, Mary Kay and Joe Holland of Carmel, Nicole and Jim Stotler of Logansport, Amyand Randy Cothran of Las Vegas, Lori and Paul Abel of Wisconsin, Kelly and Chad Kurtzweil of Wisconsin, Kim Miller and John Hines of Logansport, Tina Mehrley of Logansport, nephews, Rob Sabatini of Indianapolis, John and Danielle Sabatini of Galveston, Pat and Cindy Herr of Logansport, John and Sally Brugh of Wisconsin, Don and Tammy Gellinger of Logansport and sisters in law, Karen Brugh of Wisconsin, Rosemary and Leroy Cadwallader of Logansport, Jane Gellinger Felker of Logansport and Jackie Mitchell of Logansport. He is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews, many friends and his beloved dog, Molly.

He was also preceded in death by sister, Mary Cox and brothers, Pat and Anthony Sabatini, sister in law, Norma Sabatini, brothers in law, Mike Brugh, Mike Gellinger, John Cox and Rich McLochlin and mother and father in law, Ethel “Gertie” and Ernest “Barney” Felker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at All Saints Catholic Church with Father Jeff Martin officiating.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 16, 2019 at the church.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church and/or the Cass County Humane Society.
