The public is invited to the Cass County Community Foundation’s “Thanks for Giving” Donor & Volunteer Recognition Event, Friday, November 1 at 6 p.m. The event will be held at the Quality Inn Ballroom in Logansport.

The 2019 Richard Cassidy, Jr. “Thanks for Giving” Award will be presented to Richard Copeland at the celebration in honor of his outstanding contributions to youth, education, history, community volunteerism, and his church. The award was established in 2001 in honor of Richard Cassidy Jr., an original CCCF board member and longtime supporter of charitable and volunteer works in Cass County. The award is not presented every year and Copeland will be only the 12th recipient since its inception. Previous winners of the award include Judge Julian and Sue Ridlen, Bill Fouts, Dick Rusk, Mike McCord, Richard Scott, George Stephenson, Phyllis Kingery, Jane Miller, Ted Blank, Laura Cain, and the original 1993 CCCF Board of Directors.

Richard was a unanimous choice to honor with this award”, said Deanna Crispen, President & CEO of the foundation. “He has given back to the entire Cass County Community in some manner or another. Both he and his wife, Eileen, who passed away in December 2016, were longtime educators in the local schools Their love of learning and community led them both to volunteer for many organizations including the Cass County Historical Society, Salvation Army, All Saints, Knights of Columbus, Jaycees, Rotary, teachers’ associations and too many others to mention. World travelers, the couple took many young starting teachers under their wing and provided mentoring and guidance for most of their careers and life.”

The evening will include tributes to Mr. Copeland as well as live music provided by Mike Bowen, hors d’oeuvres by Vibrant Events catering and a cash bar. The event is free of charge, but you must RSVP to attend. RSVP deadline is October 26, 2019.

Please help us celebrate this year’s outstanding community volunteer leaders and the spirit of giving!
