Betty Jane Dunsizer

Betty Jane Dunsizer, 92 of Logansport, passed away at 6:35 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2020, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born August 10, 1927, in Barron, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Margaret (Spalding) Lofreda.

On July 17, 1960, in Denver, Colorado, she was married to Norman Fredrick Dunsizer who preceded her in death November 29, 2011.

Before her retirement, Betty had worked in accounting for seventeen years with the Logansport Municipal Utilities Department.

Betty was a member of the Baptist Temple. She was very proud to be one of the founding members of the Cass County League of Women Voters and an active member of the Democratic party. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Elkettes and the Niddee Shrine Guild.

Betty was always ready for a good game of cards. She enjoyed forming many friendships through the years with her bridge and euchre clubs. Betty loved her special cat, Felix, as well as all pets. Her love carried over as a volunteer for Cause for Paws. She was an avid reader as well as an excellent cook.

Betty was a loving and devoted wife and mother. As a mother in her younger years, she served as a Girl Scout leader. She was always an ardent support of her children and grandchildren in everything they set out to do in life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and a void that will never be filled.

Surviving are her much-loved family members who she leaves to cherish the so many wonderful memories, son, Fritz Dunsizer and his companion,Lisa, Logansport; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Bob Louthain, Logansport; sister-in-law, Barbara Spalding, Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Macy Jane Louthain and Merrill Louthain; great-grandchildren, Josephine Louthain and Sophia Cameron; and her feline companion, Felix. Betty had a very dear relationship to the Louthain family and was especially close to Mary Alice Louthain

She was preceded in death by her son, Frank Dunsizer in 2003, and her brother, Fritz Spalding.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Betty Dunsizer will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 29 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Dawn Fisher officiating.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service in the funeral chapel.
