Two arrested following traffic stops in Cass County

On January 27, 2020 at approximately 10:56 a.m., members of the Cass County Drug Task Force were conducting an investigation which led to the arrest of two Logansport residents.

A vehicle stop was conducted on a 2008 Dodge Caliber driven by Arielle Griffis, age 30, near the intersection of 475 East and 300 South. Griffis fled from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed attempting to elude law enforcement. Griffis was observed throwing objects from her vehicle which were later recovered as a handgun and probable methamphetamine.

Griffis was taken into custody a short time later after she stopped her vehicle. Griffis was transported to the Cass County Jail.

A separate vehicle stop was conducted on a 1998 Tan Buick simultaneously to the Dodge Caliber stop on 300 South east of 475 East. The driver of the tan Buick was later identified as Brett Youngblood. Youngblood also fled from law enforcement leading them on a vehicle pursuit which resulted in a minor crash with an innocent party. Youngblood then fled on foot where he again attempted to elude law enforcement. Youngblood was taken into custody a short time later. Both parties involved in the crash were taken to the Logansport Memorial Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

Youngblood was transported to the Cass County Jail.

Griffis faces charges of dealing methamphetamine (Level 3 felony), possession of methamphetamine (Level 4 felony), Serious violent felon in possession of firearm (Level 4 felony), possession of firearm without a permit (Level 5 felony) resisting law enforcement w/motor vehicle (Level 6 felony), probation warrants x 2, obstruction of justice (Level 6 felony), Criminal recklessness with a vehicle (Level 6 felony) and reckless driving (B misdemeanor).

Youngblood faces charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle (Level 6 felony), possession of methamphetamine (Level 6 felony),obstruction of justice (Level 6 felony), criminal recklessness (Level 6 felony), leaving the scene of accident resulting in personal injury (Level 6 felony), driving while suspended prior (A misdemeanor), reckless driving (B misdemeanor), possession of marijuana (B misdemeanor) and possession of paraphernalia (C misdemeanor).

The Drug Task Force was assisted by members of the Logansport Police Department, Indiana State Police,and the Cass County Sheriffs Department. Based on these investigations, additional arrests are anticipated. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activity in their neighborhoods to the Logansport Police Department or the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
