In later years, Don obtained his pilot’s license and purchased an airplane so that he and Betty could fly to many different destinations.

Don worked in many capacities during his early years, He started working as a child selling his grandmother’s homemade butter at the South Bend Farmer’s Market and from there he never stopped working until his health did not allow him to work anymore.

He then went to work in the mid 70s for Galbreath, Inc. and later Galfab, Inc. where he finally turned in his keys in 2014.

One of Don’s greatest joy next to flying was his grandchildren. Don never missed a sporting event if at all possible. He went to many football and soccer games as well as wrestling matches and basketball games. He was a firm believer in education and loved taking his grandchildren on adventures to museums, zoos, caves, amusement parks and anywhere else they had never been. Making memories!
