The following update on the West Market Street project was provided by the Office of Logansport Mayor Chris Martin on August 19, 2020:
Update from First Group Engineering: The switch in traffic last week from one way to two way went well, and is moving smoothly through the project. Deichman has been making very good progress. Due to problems with the bad weather we had in May and COVID-19 shut downs that were required by the Indiana State Health Department when the COVID-19 outbreak hit Cass County and the City of Logansport, Deichman has requested a significant time extension. This is currently being reviewed by INDOT. The requested time would put the intermediate completion date around the end of October 2020.
The following update on the West Market Street project was provided by the Office of Logansport Mayor Chris Martin on June 25, 2020:
The West Market Street road project is progressing very well so we have new information to pass along.
The intersection at Front Street by Logan Tire has re-opened so that traffic can have an alternate route to and from Cicott Street. It will stay open to traffic for the next couple of months.
Power to the street lights in the project area will likely be shut off today and will remain dark for 1 to 3weeks while new lighting is installed.
Barring any unexpected delays, two-way traffic flow is estimated to return in mid-July.

The following update on the West Market Street Rehabilitation Project was provided by the Office of Logansport Mayor Chris Martin on May 14, 2020:
Roadwork is progressing on the West Market Street project. On Monday, May 18 at approximately 6 a.m., the south approach of Front Street at W. Market Street will be closed. The westbound lane will remain open to one way traffic as it has been. This closure date could be postponed 1-2 days due to weather issues or soil conditions. This closure is expected to last about 4 weeks or until the week of June 15-19 depending on the weather.
The commonly used detour from northbound Cicott Street to eastbound Market Street will not be available during this time. Drivers will need to seek another route to avoid the construction.
The following update on the West Market Street Rehabilitation Project was provided by the Office of Logansport Mayor Chris Martin on Friday, March 6, 2020:
The crews took advantage of yesterday’s good weather to apply the line markings on Cicott and Market Streets. The forecast for next week is not looking too favorable for that kind of work.
Starting Monday morning, westbound Market Street will remain open. Eastbound Market Street will be closed down between Wilkinson and Heath Streets at the west end, and at Front Street on the east end.
Both approaches to Front Street will remain open as long as possible. Wilkinson Street should remain open to traffic.
Drive access will be provided to McDonald’s and to Arby’s as long as possible. All other drivers will be closed for sewer installation.
The official detour route signs for southbound State Road 35 will be posted directing southbound traffic to the Hoosier Heartland Highway, then up to State Road 25/Burlington.
Equipment and materials are to be delivered Tuesday –Wednesday, with saw cutting pavement and installation on Wednesday –Thursday of next week.
ORIGINAL POST:
Construction begins 250’ west of the intersection of Market Street and Heath Street (just west of McDonald’s) and continues approximately 1500’ to the west side of Front Street.
This project will replace sidewalks, curbs, drives, and pavements. It also adds in new storm sewers throughout the project.
Construction will be phased as follows:
Phase 1 –One-Way traffic (westbound) on Market Street will be maintained while eastbound traffic is detoured. During this phase, the south portion of the roadway will be constructed between Heath Street and Front Street. This will take place from approximately March 2nd until mid-June.
Phase 2 –Two-Way traffic on Market Street will be maintained during the remaining portion of the project. This will take place from approximately June through Labor Day.
Please be aware that these dates are initial targets and could be impacted by weather or unforeseen circumstances.
