Solar System Ambassador Shares Video About NASA Astronauts Designing Mission Crew Patches

Last Updated on August 21, 2020 by Solar System Ambassador Pam Roller

Solar System Ambassador Pam Roller would like for you to see how the NASA astronauts design their mission crew patches. Once assigned to a mission, designing a mission crew patch is one of the first jobs the astronauts have. The patches are all unique because they tell the story and the purpose for each mission. Astronauts must use teamwork and do some problem solving and decision-making when choosing pictures, colors, and symbols that represent the crew, and also show the importance of their mission.

This video is animated and is a little over 5 minutes. Orby, the Orbiter explains how the space shuttle mission crew patches were made, but current astronauts still continue to design mission crew patches with updated space vehicles.
