The search for a 23 year old man authorities say escaped from the Logansport State Hospital around 6 p.m. last night ended around 11:30 this morning. A Class C felony warrant for escape was issued around 1 a.m. for Christopher James Robbins of Jasper County. He was arrested in Jasper County in February on Class D felony charges of attempt to commit residential entry and misdemeanor charges of battery and disorderly conduct. A competency hearing was held in June and Robbins was ordered to be transported to the Department of Mental Health and Addiction’s Logansport facility. Authorities say he escaped from the Logansport State Hospital around 6 p.m. last night. Law enforcement chased numerous leads through the night before locating Robbins near the Cass/Carroll County line around 11:30 a.m.

The search continues for a 23 year old man authorities say escaped from the Logansport State Hospital around 6 p.m. last night and allegedly has a history of residential entry and battery.  A Class C felony warrant for escape was issued around 1 a.m. for Christopher James Robbins of Jasper County. He has brown hair, grey eyes and a mustache, is 5’9 inches tall, 137 lbs, and was last seen in a white shirt and grey sweatpants. Dispatch said this morning that law enforcement in all surrounding counties have been notified and continue to search. Deputy Shane Johnson with the Cass County Sheriff’s Department says the suspect has family in Pulaski County. If residents see a suspicious person on their property or along area roads, they should notify authorities immediately and should not approach him. Please do not tie up emergency lines by calling to ask if the suspect has been located.

UPDATED at 10:25 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014:

As of approximately 10:20 p.m., Cass Central dispatch reported that authorities are still looking for the suspect who escaped from the Logansport State Hospital earlier this evening; he is 23 years of age. Dispatch says a photo is not available.
