Logansport Memorial Hospital seeking volunteers

Last Updated on August 12, 2018 by cassnetwork

Logansport Memorial Hospital is seeking customer-focused individuals to join its service-oriented volunteer groups and help continue our tradition of delivering compassionate patient care. Volunteers can choose to be part of one, two, or all three groups with service opportunities available at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Ways to volunteer:

Meals on Wheels: Volunteers deliver meals to persons unable to prepare adequate meals for themselves due to illness, disability, or age. Meals are delivered Monday – Friday, but not on major holidays. Deliveries take approximately one hour and drivers receive a free lunch in the Café Express at the hospital.

The Volunteer Auxiliary: Auxiliary duties include – helping visitors find locations in the hospital, transporting patients in wheelchairs, working with staff and patients in the Emergency Room, delivering flowers and mail, providing administrative support for hospital staff, and assisting with fundraisers to provide equipment and project support. Volunteers receive one free meal per shift in the hospital’s Café Express

The Mary Dykeman Guild: Volunteers operate the Logansport Memorial Hospital Gift Shop and sponsor fundraisers throughout the year, including Garden Party and Holly Bazaar. Gift Shop volunteers wait on customers and assist the Gift Shop Manager. Members of the Guild receive a 20% discount on purchases made in the Gift Shop.

Gift shop hours:
Monday – Friday: 8:30 am – 5 pm
Saturday: 10 am – 4 pm
Sunday: Closed

“Volunteers are a very special and important part of the care that we provide,” said Tamara Szarszewski, Volunteer and Gift Shop Coordinator. “We are looking for energetic, friendly people who are interested in making a difference in as much as four hours a month; you can be part of a truly unique experience.”

In order to make the volunteer experience as rewarding as possible, staff work closely with all volunteers to match their skill levels and interests with a position at LMH. Orientation and volunteer education is provided.

For more information about any of these volunteer opportunities, please call the Logansport Memorial Hospital Volunteer Coordinator at (574) 753-1304 or the Concierge Desk at (574) 753-5697.
