As I sat down to write the September column, we are in the midst of preparing for two collection events and also getting set to expand one of the Cass County Solid Waste Management District’s most utilized programs.
Miami Correctional Facility is soliciting applications from not-for-profit agencies/charities (Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code) within Miami, Cass and Howard counties for grant monies from the “Community Involvement Fund”.
Despite continued concerns from a handful of residents and at least one council member about secrecy, government spending and viability, the Logansport City Council voted unanimously to approve, on first reading, a development agreement with Logansport Energy Group LLC. A second vote is scheduled next week.
The new floodplain maps or Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) have been approved for Cass County, Walton and Logansport. These new maps indicate the properties within the County, Logansport or Walton that are in a zone that require flood insurance if the property has a mortgage.
The Cass County Community Foundation will be sponsoring a food drive at the football game this Friday at Logansport High School between the host Berries and Huntington North. Berry fans bringing nonperishable food items will receive a free red and black Felix Rally Towel to cheer the Berries!
