Mary E. Appleman

applemanMary E. Appleman, 93 of Knox, passed away peacefully at 4:15 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Catherine Kasper Life Center in Donaldson.

Born December 3, 1921 in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Ruth (Charters) Beghtel.  On June 8, 1940, she married Kenneth Appleman.  He preceded her in death in June 1991.

She was a 1939 Kewanna High School graduate. Mary was a retired LPN. She was a member of Suburban Bible Church in Highland and she attended Knox United Methodist Church.  Mary enjoyed sewing, crafts, playing cards and bowling in her younger years.

Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Ringen of Knox and Nancy Mantel (Paul) of Dyer, sisters, Janice Corbett (Robert) of South Bend, Bonnie Barker (Virgil)of Winamac and Barbara Gochenen, 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Skinner (Michael), Thomas Bitterling, Stephanie Arwood, (Joe), Robert Lyons and Katherine Porojcic (Mark), 9 great grandchildren, Ashley Arwood, Alexandia Bulick, Jordan Bulick, Victoria Bulick, Cassidy Porojcic, Sophia Porojcic, Nicholas Bitterling, Brady Bitterling, Chloe Bitterling and Hannah Bitterling.

She was also preceded in death by daughter, Carol Sue Walters, brother, Joseph Beghtel, sisters, Patsy Schrader, Clara Sue Albee and Doris Tircuitt and adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ferd  and Stella Grube, grandchildren, Nick Lyons and Emily Bitterling and son-in-law, Richard Ringen.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. (EST), Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel with visitation from 11:00 a.m. (EST) until the time of service.

Burial will follow at Kewanna Citizens IOOF Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Suburban Bible Church and/or Youth for Christ.
