Sen. Head Receives Response Regarding his Call for Improvements to the Hoosier Heartland Highway

Last Updated on April 30, 2015 by cassnetwork

State Sen. Randy Head (R-Logansport) recently received a response from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) regarding the letter he sent requesting additional improvements to the Hoosier Heartland Highway intersection with the Logansport Bypass and Burlington Avenue.

INDOT records indicate that the majority of accidents occur when Hoosier Heartland traffic collides with southbound SR 29/U.S. 24/U.S. 35 at the northwest intersection of the interchange. In addition to the signage that was added in this area, INDOT has agreed to make further safety improvements this year.

Improvements planned for that area include the addition of overhead flashers to alert traffic of the upcoming stop, concrete islands to channel traffic coming off the Heartland and signage moved closer to the road to increase visibility. Overhead intersection lighting will also be provided at all four intersections.

“Safety is my number one priority,” Head said. “I am encouraged by the efforts of INDOT and I hope that these changes will ensure safe travels for everyone that drives through that intersection.”
