Two arrested at residence as deputies served a warrant

On the evening of March 31, 2015 at approximately 10:30 p.m., deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department received information from a concerned citizen about the residence at 2209 Wabash River Road, reference manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Deputies determined that one of the people living at the residence, Jessie Dewitt, had an active warrant through Cass County.

Deputies John O’Connor and Branson Eber went to the residence to investigate the complaint received by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department. When Deputies O’Connor and Eber arrived they located Jessie Dewitt, 33, and Alan Dewitt, 39, inside the residence.

Deputies noted that there was a strong chemical odor associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine coming from the residence.

A search warrant was obtained for the residence by Deputy Branson Eber. After serving the search warrant, deputies took Alan and Jessie Dewitt into custody for the following charges:

Manufacturing methamphetamine

Possession of methamphetamine

Possession of precursors

Possession of several syringes

Possession of paraphernalia

Maintaining a common nuisance

Both Alan and Jessie Dewitt were transported and booked into the Cass County Jail. Deputies Eber and O’Connor were assisted by Sgt. Patrick Zeider (certified clandestine lab technician) and the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office.
