gellinger Dorothy L. Gellinger, 89 years old of Logansport, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born October 17, 1925, in Monroe County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of
the late Augustus Ceaser Piercy and Lula Ann (Harlan) Piercy.

On August 13, 1949, in Logansport, she married Glen E. Gellinger who preceded her in death on April 2, 1997.

Dorothy worked as a caregiver all of her life. Her mother died when Dorothy was just six and she became like a mother to her three-year-old brother. She was retired from T.M. Morris Mfg. where she had worked as an assembler.

She was a member of the Central Church of Christ. Dorothy was an Auxilary member of the Disabled Veterans of America. If someone said, “Let’s go,” Dorothy would be the first one to have her suitcase packed. She enjoyed “people watching.” She was also an excellent cook. Dorothy had a big heart and loved helping others, which she even managed to do at Miller’s with fellow residents.

Surviving are three daughters, Glenna L. (Charles) Hipsher, Gloria (Stan) Layman, and Marsha Gellinger, all of Logansport; three grandchildren Bridget (Neil) Muller, Misty (Andrew) Duevalle and Eric (Heather) Billiard; six geat-grandchildren Abby Russow, Bryce Muller, Cassidy Muller, Rachelle (Martin) Cholger, Teagan Billiard and Taylon Billiard; one great-great-grandson Ulric Cholger; and an extended family of caregivers at Miller’s Merry Manor who cared for her with so much love.

She was preceded in death by two brothers Lester and Leonard Piercy and two sisters, Verna Nulf and Wanema Cottingham.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Dorothy Gellinger will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 2nd in the Fisher Funeral Chapel with Herb Derryberry officiating.

Interment will follow in the Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.

Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Monday, June 1st in the funeral chapel.

Contributions may be made to the Hospitalized Veterans of America. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
