Four named Employee of the Quarter at MCF

Bunker Hill, IN –  Miami Correctional Facility (MCF) has named its Employees of the Quarter. Those honored include: Ann Hubbard, Employee of the Quarter (non-custody); Sgt. Peter Lapoint, Supervisor of the Quarter (custody or non-custody); Officer Rodney Mygrant, Custody Officer of the Quarter and Lauren Siblisk, Contract Employee of the Quarter. These outstanding staffers set good examples for others, take part in special projects, exercise good judgment, demonstrate enthusiasm for work, demonstrate outstanding achievement, are team-oriented, display dependability and  perseverance, have a positive attitude, communicate well with others, and display professionalism.

Ann HubbardAnn Hubbard, Community Involvement Coordinator and Public Information Officer, was hired at MCF in November 1999. “Since 2011, Ms. Hubbard has organized a 5K Run/Walk event as part of the Wellness Committee activities and help to bring in more than $2,500 since then to the facility’s Correctional Employee Appreciation Fund. Ann steps up and provides coverage for the Chaplains when needed, ensuring the religious services are being conducted accordingly. She strives to be a positive role model for not only the staff at this facility, but the entire department and the community. Her leadership and dedication to make staff feel appreciation is worthy of recognition.”

Peter LapointSgt. Peter Lapoint was hired at MCF in August 1999 as a correctional officer. He promoted to correctional sergeant in November 1999. “He has dedicated more than the last 22 years to the department and never asks for recognition. He is humble, but proves his love for the job every day through his actions. He is a wealth of knowledge and is always willing to give his opinion when asked. He is the first one to step up and offer assistance to anyone that needs it and he never complains about his day to day duties. He is always looking for ways to make his unit run smoother and works with his staff in order to encourage development from his subordinates.”

Rodney MygrantOfficer Rodney Mygrant began his career at MCF in April 2000 as a Correctional officer. “Officer Mygrant has a wealth of knowledge and experience. His interpersonal and communication skills make it possible for him to be utilized in several locations throughout the facility. He faces a multitude of challenges and high-risk situations and approaches them with enthusiasm, ensuring that both staff and offenders are given the opportunity to remain safe. Mygrant always remains professional and is willing to assist the public while maintaining close accountability of the offenders in his custody.”

Lauren SibliskLauren Siblisk is a CNA in the MCF Infirmary, employed with Corizon. “She is responsible for the care of some of the most sick and injured offenders. She is always safety and security minded and willing to assist custody staff when their duties overlap hers. Siblisk is always in communication with the staff assigned to her area as to the concerns and attitude changes in offender in the information. She has been instrumental in helping to bridge the gap in communication and working relationship between the medical and the custody departments.

“These individuals were awarded because they have gone above and beyond expectations,” said Superintendent Kathy Griffin. “They are positive role models to their peers and to our offender population and I’m glad they are a part of our staff.”
