Deloris J. Nicoll

nicollDeloris J. Nicoll, 89 of Logansport, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 at McKinney Place in Logansport.

Born on October 17, 1926 at the top of Morgan Hill in Logansport she was the daughter of the late Lee H. and Lena (Hoover) Parmeter.  On April 5, 1947 in Logansport, she married John W. Nicoll who preceded in death on November 15, 1992.

Deloris attended Washington Township High School and then dropped out at the age of 16 to work at the B&B Store during WWII to help support her family. Deloris was an enterprising farm wife, she took in laundry, she was a seamstress, sold eggs, and many quarts of strawberries and raspberries. She always had a pie or two to share with any company that would stop to see her.  Deloris was a long time member of Main Street United Methodist Church where she contributed many hours and the goods for making mincemeat, noodles, jams, and jellies as fundraisers for her church.

Surviving is a daughter, Christy (Kenneth) Johns, Monon, IN; six grandchildren, Jill Cookerly, Brownsburg, IN; Mary (Eric) Wilcox, Chicago, IL; Andrew Cookerly, North Salem, IL; Mike Gingrich, Logansport; Mark (Danielle) Gingrich; Matt (Belinda) Gingrich, both of Valparaiso; six great grandchildren, Spencer Cookerly; Lily Wilcox; Vivian Wilcox; Ben Wilcox; Addy Gingrich; Anna Gingrich; and Campbell Gingrich; nieces and nephews, Dick (Candy) Parmeter ; Karen (Bill) Turnpaugh; Linda (Greg) Downhour; Connie Huff; and Rita Parmeter.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Gingrich; granddaughter, Rebecca Gingrich; sister, Dorothy Grace; and two brothers, Lemoine and Ralph Parmeter.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in the Gundrum Funeral Home. A Private burial will be held in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until the time of the service on Wednesday.
