George L. Morrow

morrowGeorge L. Morrow, age 97, Logansport, passed away at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9 at Chase Center.

Born July 7 29, 1918, in Logansport, he was the son of Clarence and Kathryn Keppler Morrow.

On October 18, 1941, he was married to Marie C. Shanks, who preceded him in death on February 16, 2005.

George had been employed at Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo. He retired as a clerk for the United States Postal Service, where he was a member of the American Postal Workers Union.

He served in the United States Army, and was part of the Big Red One.

George was a recipient of the Purple Heart for heroism in the line of duty.

An avid Notre Dame football fan, as a young man his father would take him to Notre Dame to watch the Four Horsemen play, coached by Knute Rockne.

George was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.

Surviving is a daughter, Diane (Peter) Holmqvist, Cary, NC; sons, Mike (Bert) Morrow, Queens Creek, AZ, and Ron Morrow, Logansport; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, at All Saints Catholic Church, with Fr. Dominic Petan officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m., in the Parish Hall, prior to the Mass, with military honors performed by uniformed members of the United States Army at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be in the Mount Calvary section of Mount Hope Cemetery.
