Winter Blast Keeps Peru Post Troopers Busy

Last Updated on January 12, 2016 by cassnetwork

Peru – Today from approximately 7:00 a.m. until approximately 12:30 p.m., troopers working from the Indiana State Police Peru Post investigated or assisted other agencies with seven crashes. Two of those crashes resulted in injuries.

Troopers also assisted 15 motorists whose vehicles had slid off the travel portion of the roadway. The main cause for a majority of the crashes and slide offs was motorists traveling too fast for the snow covered roads. When roads become wet or are covered with snow or ice motorists should reduce the speed of their vehicles.

Officers also completed numerous calls to assist motorists. Assisting a motorist included calling a wrecker for a disabled vehicle or transporting stranded drivers and passengers to a warm building.

The Indiana State Police Peru District is comprised of Cass, Fulton, Grant, Howard, Miami, Tipton and Wabash Counties. A majority of the incidents occurred in the southern part of the district.
