Richard “Rich” A. Spencer

spencerRichard “Rich” A. Spencer, 62, of Logansport, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at St Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born on August 14, 1953 in Cook County, Illinois, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Helen (Madison) Spencer.  In August of 1993 Rich married Opal F. Bollinger in the Lake Cicott United Methodist Church. Opal preceded him in death on May 21, 2003.  On May 14, 2011 in the Anoka United Methodist Church he married Robin A. Slaughter who survives.

Rich was a United States Army Veteran. He was an avid Beatles fan and collected several pieces of their memorabilia. Rich loved to fish, work on his ’57 Chevy, and was a member of Lake Cicott United Methodist Church.

Survivors along with his wife Robin include, two daughters, Amanda (Karl) Heuer, Logansport; Sherry (Rod) Richard, Peru; three sons, Michael (Cindy) Baxter, Rose Hill, NC; Dustin (Karrie) Baxter, Marysville, Washington; Ken Dingman, Peru; grandchildren, Karlie and Mazie Heuer; Austin Adair; Brynna and Josh Richard; Anthony and Matthew Baxter; Dustin, Michael, Tommy, and Johnny Baxter; brother, Wilbur Spencer Jr. and wife Lillian, Logansport; sister, Nora Crudden, Scottsburg, IN; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, David Baxter; and one sister, Donna Lindsey.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM in the Anoka United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Rife officiating.  Burial with Full Military Graveside Rites will be in the Davis Cemetery located in Burnettsville, IN.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 10, 2016 in the Gundrum Funeral Home. There will also be visitation held one hour prior to the service on Monday in the church.

Memorials may be made to the Anoka United Methodist Church or the New Waverly United Methodist Church.
