William Lee Johnson, 87, of Logansport, passed away at 7 a.m. Friday,March 25, 2016, in his home.
Born March 2, 1929, in Tipton, he was the son of the late Allen R. and Addie Ann (Eller) Johnson.
On June 7, 1953, he was married to Donna Gene VanBibber Johnson, who preceded in death.
He was married in 1971 to Sylvia Christine Bearden Johnson, who preceded him in death in 2001.
Following high school, William attended college for three years at Taylor University before entering the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He worked as a truck driver and security guard for most of his life.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 60 and the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are three children Carla Bailey, of Couer d’Alene, ID, Allen (Lynn) Johnson of Logansport and Melissa (George) Devendorf of Tipton; brothers, Hubert (Betty) Johnson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Raymond (Corky) Johnson of Roosevelt, MN and James (Pat) Johnson of Livingston, TX, sister, Martha Strunk of Asheville, NC, eleven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Also preceding in death were one sister Marilyn Anderson and one brother-in-law Leon Strunk.
A memorial service celebrating William’s life will be held on Saturday, April 9th at his son’s home.
