Free Fishing Day set for May 21, 2016

Last Updated on May 20, 2016 by cassnetwork

Saturday, May 21, is the second of four Free Fishing Days in 2016.

On these special days, Indiana residents who are age 18 and older can fish public waters without needing a fishing license or a trout stamp. Free Fishing Days are great opportunities to teach families how to fish because adults don’t need a license on those days, and individuals younger than age 18 never need a license.

The DNR Go FishIN program will again offer free Family Learn to Fish Workshops at selected sites. Evansville, Indianapolis, Lafayette, Terre Haute, and Vincennes will host the workshops on Saturday, May 21. In these three-hour workshops, families gain basic fishing knowledge and skills so that they will be able to fish confidently on their own in the future.

On the most recent Free Fishing Day, 31 families learned how to fish in six workshops across the state.

The other Free Fishing Days for 2016 are June 4 and 5. For more information on Free Fishing Days or the workshops, see GoFishin.IN.gov.
