bicentennialA former Logansport High School valedictorian is the newest recipient of the Logansport Bicentennial Citizen of the Week Award.

Jennifer Jordan, who was valedictorian in 1984, gained statewide and nationwide recognition in the pool. After becoming one of Logansport’s first state champions in girls swimming, she went on to attend Southern Methodist University where she was an All-American. She later graduated from medical school and became a doctor.

“Jennifer was perhaps the best example of a student/athlete in the purest sense that Logansport ever had,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said today. “She was a leader and was not only a drum major for the marching band, but elected by her peers to the Good Government Day City Council. She was able to balance everything well and a model for other student/athletes, both boys and girls.”

Jennifer is the daughter of retired Small Parts President Mike Jordan and the late Susan Jordan.

She will receive an Indiana state flag and a certificate from the Mayor’s Office.  The award is presented weekly during 2016 to recognize local residents or natives who have brought state or national recognition to Logansport.
