Logansport area residents who want to enjoy the special Bicentennial concert featuring the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra Sunday night will be able to take advantage of special transportation arranged for the event.LSO_Blk_Standard

Cass Area Transit will run shuttles from Logansport High School, Logansport Memorial Hospital, Fairview Park and France Park beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday. Buses will have a return shuttle service running through 9:30 p.m.

Logansport Mayor Dave Kitchell says the shuttles are part of the city’s existing contract with Cass Area Transit and will enable senior citizens and handicapped residents to be close to the concert venue at the Little Turtle Waterway.

“This should significantly reduce the distance people have to walk to get to the venue and allow people to enjoy what we believe to be the first outdoor performance by a symphony orchestra in downtown Logansport,” Kitchell said. “This is an official Indiana Bicentennial event and it will have a distinct Indiana flavor.”sagamore_300x250

While there will be some additional tables and bleachers at the venue, the mayor is asking local residents to bring their own folding chairs if possible. The weather forecast for the event calls for fair skies and seasonal temperatures. In the event of rain, the concert will be relocated to the McHale Performing Arts Center.

The free concert is funded through a grant from the Cass County Community Foundation.
