CONCERT TO BENEFIT STATE THEATRE RESTORATION

state_preservation_featuredThe State Theatre Preservation Society — a 501(c)(3) public charity that was formed to restore and  preserve the historic State Theatre in downtown Logansport — will host its first live-performance fundraising event on Sat., June 25, at 8:30 p.m. “God Save the State: A Four-Band Acoustic Jam” will feature Jerry James, Kyle Johnson, Fudd, and  Scarecrowe in an all-acoustic evening of music. Free-will donations will be accepted, with the goal of raising money for the non-profit’s initial  startup costs.

The State Theatre Preservation Society needs to raise initial funding for items including: marketing; architectural, electrical and structural assessment and planning for the overall restoration project; an initial down payment for purchase and transfer of the theatre property; and transfer and deposits for utilities. In all, organizers hope to raise $50,000 over the next few months.

They believe there are three ways their efforts can dramatically improve the community and its quality of life: by creating a focal point for future community revitalization, by Providing low- or no-cost facilities for other groups and organizations and by Bringing tourism and added revenue to our community.
