New Logansport McDonald’s will open in Fall 2016

McDonald’s opened at 3201 E. Market Street in Logansport in November 1968 and owner Mark Hammons says it served the community for 17,408 days before closing over the weekend for a 90 day project that will see a brand new McDonald’s restaurant built in its place.

Demolition began today, and Hammons expects the restaurant to re-open sometime in October.

Mark and Patricia Hammons have owned Logansport’s McDonald’s restaurants since November 2000. The McDonald’s East location was remodeled in 2004, and McDonald’s West was renovated in 2014.

The McDonald’s East rebuild is a $2.6 million investment in Logansport and Hammons says it will offer a “more relevant, contemporary feel,” and will incorporate modern technology including LED lighting, digital menu boards and a fire suppression system.

While the new restaurant won’t include a Playplace, Hammons says customers had the chance to vote on three potential designs. They also held a photo contest for people to submit local photos to be used in the restaurant’s interior. He says items from the old store that could be re-purposed were.

“We’re so appreciative of the support and patronage of the community, and we’re excited to build a new state-of-the-art restaurant they can enjoy for years to come,” Hammons said today.

Hammons says they were able to keep all of their employees employed during the project. In the meantime, McDonald’s West is open at 611 W. Market St. in Logansport.
