The Cass County Community Foundation announced the recipients of the 2016 Back Home Again in Indiana Scholarships last night at a reception held at Ivy Tech Community College. This year, scholarships in the amount of $1,000 were awarded to two non-traditional recipients.

“We are so pleased to be able to continue offering financial assistance to our adult students,” CCCF President Deanna Crispen announced. “It is our hope that in addition to providing financial assistance, the awards will also inspire our residents to continue their pursuit of a degree.”

The two adults receiving the 2016 awards are  Tracy Hunter and Crystal Miller.  Both women are attending Ivy Tech and pursuing paralegal degrees.  Both also plan to continue to live and work in Cass County.

This scholarship is specifically designed to assist Cass County’s non-traditional students, such as those who are entering or returning to college after raising a family  or pursuing a career.

The pizza party for 2016 scholarship recipients and their families, as well as donors, board members and volunteers, at Ivy Tech’s Community Room was attended by over 100 people. Students attending were eligible to receive door prizes ranging from college necessities and supplies to the top prize of a $100 gift card. This year, the Cass County Community Foundation awarded over 121 scholarships totaling over $262,150.

Thirty-seven former Cass County graduates received $58,000 this month in renewable awards.
