Carousel Festival, Shrine Parade, Football, Concerts & More

carouselfestival_bannerA brand-new, two day festival this weekend celebrates the historic Cass County Dentzel Carousel. The Carousel Festival in the Park is Friday, Aug. 26 from 4-9 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 27 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. There’s a 5K, tons of entertainment, food, canoe rides and, of course, rides on the carousel and train! Admission to the festival is free, with $1 tickets required for some activities. William Dentzel, a descendant of the Carousel’s creator, Gustav Dentzel, will be honored during the festival. Organizers are expecting several thousand people, so plan to park and ride! Shuttles will run every 15 minutes from the Logansport Mall (near former Sears), Cass Plaza (parking area behind Pizza Hut), Life Gate Church 831 Burlington Ave. and Memorial Hospital with parking at the top level of Garage and pickup at the corner of Clifton and Fulton St.shuttle

SHRINE FROLIC & PARADE
shrineparade2The annual Logansport Shrine Frolic starts Friday night and continues through Saturday. The Shrine Club will be serving New York Strip Steaks and half chickens from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26. and local band Scarecrowe will perform in the tent behind the Shrine Club from 7-11 p.m.

The Shrine Frolic Parade begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 and travels down Broadway, then north on 4th Street to the Shrine Club at 4th and High. Following the parade, Scarecrowe will perform again in the tent at the Shrine Club. All events are open to the public!

READY FOR FOOTBALL?
cccf_footballfooddrivesFriday Night Football in Cass County features home games for all four Cass County high school teams: Pioneer vs. Winamac, Logansport vs. Frankfort, Lewis Cass vs. Churubusco and Caston vs. North Judson-San Pierre. (Be sure to check our Schedules & Scores section after the game!)

The “Felix Express” shuttle service will offer free transportation to and from all of the Logansport Berries home football games.

Pickup will be at 5:30 p.m. at Fairview Park, at 5:45 p.m at Marsh Supermarket on N. 3rd. St, at 6 p.m. at Marsh on 14th St. and at 6:15 p.m. at Walmart. The shuttle will arrive at the LHS Stadium at 6:30 p.m. and will depart following the games at 8:45 p.m. to return fans to the pickup locations.

Also on Friday night, the Cass County Community Foundation will host a football food drive at Caston. Comet fans will receive special Caston Rally Towels for donating canned goods and other food items.

SUNDAY CONCERTS

Like live music? There are TWO free concerts Sunday night.

revolutionrockshowThe Revolution Community Church ROCK SHOW from 6-8 p.m. in the church parking lot located at 3324 E. Market. Logansport will feature free pizza, and the bands “The Clutter” and “KIDS” will perform.

sundownThe finale of the Summer Sundown Music Series presented by the Cass County Arts Alliance happens Sunday night, too. Organizer Terry Doran says Scarecrowe will be entertaining as well as any of the previous performers from this Summer who want to participate. The fun begins at 7 p.m. at Little Turtle Waterway in Downtown Logansport.
