Crane statues return to Little Turtle Waterway

Last Updated on August 7, 2016 by cassnetwork

Last week, workers from the Logansport Street Department returned the crane statues to Little Turtle Waterway.

LTW Corp. volunteer Suzy Wamsley raised $7,400 for Indiana sculptor Steve Wooldridge to add cattails and grasses to the statues. The grasses and cattails brace the cranes, making them more stable.  This modification of the design relates to the need to protect against vandalism.

Why cranes?  It’s not just that we see cranes in the farm fields and flying over Cass County during their migration.  Cranes are the totem of Chief Little Turtle’s Miami Nation.
