Logansport awarded $1 million for paving

INDOT Commissioner Brandye Hendrickson has announced that 121 Northern Indiana cities, towns, and counties will receive a combined $51 million to improve local roads and bridges through the State’s Community Crossings matching grant fund.  Logansport will receive $1 million.

Logansport Street Commissioner Tony Shanks says, “We plan to hit the ground running.  I’ve been in contact with Central Paving to see what we can get accomplished this year.  I’m excited, and looking forward to all the great things we can get done.”

“We want to thank our State Legislators for this infrastructure money, and also thank our City Council for supporting the grant application,” said Deputy Mayor Mercedes Brugh.  “Logansport was competitive because of the great work of our consultant Jodi Coblentz.  Jodi worked with Commissioner Shanks to scientifically prioritize our 100 miles of streets.  That Pavement Management Plan was half finished when the Community Crossings program was announced.   Jodi and Tony finished the Pavement Management Plan and then put together the applications for Community Crossings, all in a very short time frame.  Their fine work is undoubtedly one of the reasons why Logansport will receive the maximum allowable under this Community Crossings program.”
