Logansport City Council president Teresa Popejoy shared the following statement regarding a press release that Mayor Dave Kitchell issued Monday.
“In light of the Mayor’s press release about proposed annexation and de-annexation, many residents of this community are concerned and upset,” Popejoy says. “At this time, Council has not had an opportunity to consider the Mayor’s request and I want to reassure everyone that no meetings or action regarding this will occur until we have had an opportunity to secure data related to the financial impact for the City and residents, as well as other pertinent information. Once we have had an opportunity to review solid data Council will then hold Committee meetings that will be well advertised so that citizens have an opportunity to present their views and information. Only after these things happen will City Council act upon the Mayor’s request.”
