Nominees accepted for firefighter, police officer of the year

Last Updated on November 7, 2016 by cassnetwork

November is a time for being thankful, and local and area residents who are grateful for the contributions public safety personnel make are encouraged to nominate someone for new city awards.

Nominations are now open for the 2016 Police Officer of the Year and Firefighter of the Year. Nominations will be accepted through Nov. 19 and announced Thanksgiving Day.

Mayor Dave Kitchell says the recognition is due to the people who protect and serve Logansport, and in many cases, have for their entire careers.

“Not everyone can be a police officer or firefighter because it takes a special breed of person to want to not only serve the public, but in some cases, put their life on the line for the good of their community,” Kitchell said. “In many cases, police and firefighters are called out at all hours of the day and night, in all weather conditions, to respond to calls where someone’s life is literally on the line.”

Nominations may be sent, e-mailed or dropped off at the Mayor’s Office, Room 201, of the City Building, 601 E. Broadway, Logansport. Anonymous nominations will not be accepted.

Nominees must either be Logansport residents or serving on the Logansport police and fire departments.
