Chris Gaumer, the assistant planning director and zoning administrator for the Logansport/Cass County Planning Department for the past six years, has accepted a head planning department position in the greater Fort Wayne area.

Gaumer has been named the planning director for DeKalb County where the county seat is Auburn.

“Chris has been a tremendous asset for the city and is a homegrown talent who is moving on to lead a planning department,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said today.

“I don’t think anyone who knows him is surprised that he has landed this kind of career move. He’ll be missed because he was a very versatile person for us.”

Gaumer administered the flood plain insurance program for the city and actively served on the Logansport Municipal Building Corporation Board. He was one of the primary city officials involved with the Blight Elimination Program. Recently, the LMBC was an integral part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority application for the Logan Square Homes project. Several blight elimination properties were committed by the city to the project.

Planning Director Arin Shaver will be absorbing his duties until his replacement is hired.
