Charles “Don” Beougher

charlesbeougherCharles Donald “Don”  Beougher, 94, of Logansport, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2016  in the Golden Living Center, Kokomo..

Born, May 17, 1922,  in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Charles Truman and Jesse Leone (Kirkpatrick) Beougher

On May 18, 1947, in the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church, he was married to Norma Jean (Warner) Beougher. She preceded him in death January 17, 2012.

Don was a graduate of Camden High School. Don served with the United States Army’s 338th Engineering Corps in North Africa and Italy during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 60 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790.  Don was honored to be selected for the Greater Lafayette Honor Flight in September 2014.

In 1986, Don retired from the former Hendrickson  Chrysler-Plymouth dealership where he was the service manager for over 35 years.

His strong faith was evident in everything he did throughout his life. Don’s skillful hands created hundreds of crosses which he shared as a personal testimony for his Lord and Savior.

Don was a longtime member of Wheatland Avenue Methodist Church. He was a member and Past Master of Logansport’s Tipton Masonic Lodge No.33. He was also active in the York Rite Chapter, Council and Commandery.  Don was also a past worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the Royal Center Chapter No. 375. He was also active as a volunteer with the Masonic youth organizations Rainbow and DeMolay.

Gardening and working on cars were two of Don’s favorite pastimes. In 1957, doing most all of the construction himself, Don built their family’s home on the south side of town. From 1979-1995, Don enjoyed fishing and hosting hog roasts at the couple’s cottage on Big Monon.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Cheryl Beougher, of Logansport; three grandchildren,  Kristi (Jeff) Hogue, Craig (Caryn) Beougher and Karen (Charlie) Allen;six great-grandchildren, Taelynn Hogue, Jaedren Hogue, Maekenna Hogue, Katelynn Beougher, Kenzie Beougher and Wyatt Allen; and two sisters, Doris Sink, of Marion, and Joan Jackson, of Kokomo.

He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Kenneth E. Beougher, who died Sept. 9, 2009; two brothers, George and Willis Beougher; and one sister, Theresa Isaacs.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9th, at  Fisher Funeral Chapel.

Masonic services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in the funeral chapel immediately followed by a funeral service celebrating the life of Don Beougher.

 

Interment, with full military honors, will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tipton Masonic Lodge or the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church Window Fund.
