Roberta M. ‘Bertie’ Bowyer

bowyerrobertaRoberta M. “Bertie” Bowyer went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2016.

Roberta was born on March 5, 1930 to the late Tony and Francis Sands.

She graduated from Burnettsville High School in 1946. Roberta worked at Logan Machine and as a dental assistant until 1955, when she married Frederick L. Bowyer, who preceded her in death in 1989.

Roberta dedicated her life to raising her six children. She also touched the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved spending time at her country home.

Roberta was a life-long member of the Spring Creek Christian Church. Throughout the years, she enjoyed the many vacations and outings taken with her five sisters.

Surviving are six children, Gayle (Bob) Edgerly, Logansport; Frederick “Fritz” (Olga) Bowyer, Houston, TX; Scott (Nancy) Bowyer, Chicago, IL;  Amy (Brad) Snyder, Pleasanton, CA;  Barry (Divana) Bowyer, Wabash; Sam (Kim) Bowyer, Muncie;  grandchildren, Brody Edgerly; Kate and Delyla Bowyer; Samantha and Luke Bowyer; Alexandra and Trent Snyder; Josh (Melanie) Bowyer; Brittany (Chad) Smith; Emilee Bowyer;  Sarah and Grant Bowyer; great-grandchildren, David and Isaac Bowyer; Sophia, Caleb, Zachary and Brooklyn Smith.

Also surviving are sisters, Geraldine (Wayne) Landes; Clara (Jim) Humphrey; Jo (Jim) DeHaven; Peg (Ed) Unger; brothers, Ben (Sue) Sands; Tony Sands; sisters in-law, Sally and Bonnie Bowyer; Donna Sands; brother-in-law Jim Bowyer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Bob and Dick Sands and sister, Ellen (Dean) Chamberlain.

Visitation will be from 4:30 – 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Kroeger Funeral Home.

The funeral, officiated by Rev. Jeff Hayes, will be at Kroeger Funeral Home on Friday, December 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Spring Creek Christian Church, 3573 N. Co. Rd. 450 E, Logansport, IN 46947.
