Julia J. (Fettig) (Nouwens) Strubbe

Julia J. (Fettig) (Nouwens) Strubbe, 91 of Peru and formerly of Greenfield, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening , January 2, 2017 at Duke’s Memorial Hospital in Peru.

Born on September 26, 1925 in Logansport, she was the daughter of Edger Arthur and May Anna (Guthrie) Thompson. On December 13, 1942 in Kansas City, MO, she married Harold J. Fettig who preceded in death February 24, 1986. She was also married to Adrian Nouwens who also preceded in death. She is survived by her current husband, Ralph Strubbe.

Julia retired from the Logansport State Hospital in 1980 after 18 years of service. She was also a caretaker for the elderly. She enjoyed life, flowers, family and her beloved cats. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Surviving along with her husband Ralph, is a son, Daniel J. (Debbie) Fettig, Peru; daughter, Jo Ellen (Michael) McFaddin, Harsen’s Island, MI; step daughter, Paula Hammond, Greenfield, IN; step son, Ralph Eugene (Judy) Strubbe; five grandchildren, Deborah Ziem; Sheri Terrell; Nick Bondar; Bradley Joseph Fettig; Kristie Jane (Nate) Nelson; twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers and one twin brother, Robert Thompson.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday January 6, 2017 at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Marie Thompson officiating and burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 – 7 PM Thursday, January 5, 2017
