Carol Hornung

Carol  Hornung,  91, of Logansport, formerly of Burnettsville, passed away Monday,Feb. 13, 2017 in Woodbridge Health Campus.

Born December 25, 1925, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late Glen T. and Myrtle D. Allison Anderson.

On March 17, 1946, in Logansport, she was married to Louis Hornung.  He preceded her in death on April 20, 2001.

Carol owned and operated the One Stop Inn at Burnettsville until 1963.

Carol was a member of the Burnettsville Baptist Church. Many years ago, Carol worked with Bonnie Barnes to form the Home and School Committee to pursue an Eli Lilly Foundation grant.  Their efforts resulted in an after school program in Burnettsville’s Beehive gymnasium.

She was a member of the Crystal Chapter 165 Order of Eastern Star and the Old Towne Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In younger years, she was a White County 4-H leader.

She is survived by two sons, Louis A. Hornung of Bad Kreuznach, Germany and Mark A. Hornung of Muncie;  two daughters Janie L. Hornung of Logansport and  Cora D. Lienemann, of Rushville; four grandchildren: Lindsey Baker-Bradshaw, Chelsea Baker-Snare, Alexandra Nicole Hornung and Rachel Elizabeth Hornung; and one great-granddaughter, Ries Swain Bradshaw.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jane Beck and, Jeanette Watts.

A memorial service celebrating Carol’s life will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul Scott officiating.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. until the time of the service Thursday in the funeral chapel.

Interment, at a later date, will be in the Davis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Burnettsville Baptist Church.
