Thomas Duane Strahlem

Thomas Duane Strahlem, 51, of Royal Center, passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday morning, March 17, 2017 in his mother’s home following a long battle with diabetes.

Born August 27, 1965, in Logansport, he was the son of John Thomas and Susie (Winters) Strahlem.

Tom was a graduate of Logansport High School and served in the U.S. Army Indiana National Guard.

He was a very family-oriented man. Tom loved his family dearly and was the type of man who never knew a stranger.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Susie (Hayden) and Mike Nelson of Lafayette; his father and stepmother, John and Jean Strahlem of Logansport; his children: Justin Thomas Strahlem of Delphi, Amber Marie (Greg) Moolenaar of Royal Center, Tyler (Katelyn) Strahlem of Kentucky and Carrie (Jason) Maxwell of Bunker Hill; three sisters Lori (George) Barkus, Sami (Chris) Callaway and Jill (Carl) Smith, all of Logansport; two brothers, Tony (Marcy) Hayden and Kenny Hayden, all of Logansport; two step-brothers, Matt Nelson of Lafayette and John Nelson of Indianapolis; his maternal grandmother, Jean Chapman of Logansport; nine grandchildren: Aspen Moolenaar, Ryland Moolenaar, Sydney Strahlem, Maggie Strahlem, Brantley Strahlem, Brice Strahlem, Halle Maxwell, Bella Maxwell and Brooklynn Maxwell; a great-uncle, Paul Winters of Monticello; aunts and uncles  David and Jill Strahlem, Dorothy and Steve Harvey and Jane Patch, all of Logansport; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Bob Hayden.

A funeral service celebrating Tom’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m.Tuesday, March 21 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Greg Eberhad officiating.

Burial, with military honors, will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Monday, March 20 in the funeral chapel.
