Barry Frank Ledger, a cargo van expediter and resident of Logansport, passed away unexpectedly on April 26, 2017 at the age of 57 while on the road going through Zanesville, Ohio.

Barry was born in Detroit on August 14, 1959 to Laurence and Marilyn Ledger. Barry moved with his parents from Detroit to Logansport in 1971 when the family opened Total Discount in Logansport and Peru. He graduated from Logansport High School in 1977 and immediately began working full time for his parents at Total Discount. Barry worked for his parents for 18 years until they retired in 1995. At that time, Barry took over the Logansport and Peru Total Discount stores until they ultimately closed in 1998 and 2001. Total Discount was a successful family-run business for a total of 31 years.

In 2004, Barry bought his first Sprinter van and began working for Ceva International as a ground expediter. Barry had a passion for driving and he loved his job. He drove for Ceva for the next twelve and a half years. He was a beloved employee who will be greatly missed. During his expediting career, Barry logged over a million miles and went through three Sprinter vans. Uniquely, Barry crossed every state line and was able to visit many of the major cities across the nation. His co-pilot, an all-black Shih Tzu puppy named Sprinter, was by his side every passing mile since 2011. Barry loved taking Sprinter to any dog park that he could find.

Barry was a devoted father and avid golfer. He also enjoyed pool and bowling leagues in his younger years, having once bowled a 299. He loved watching and listening to all major sports, including PGA Golf, NBA, NFL, and the MLB. His favorite teams were the Pacers, Colts, and the Cubs. Barry most enjoyed cooking and spending time with his children.

On June 18, 1988 and October 19, 1989 respectively, he welcomed his daughter, Mari, and son, Brooks, who were the most important part of his life. Barry will be remembered most as an exceptionally proud father who provided unwavering love and support for his children.

He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Ledger, Sarasota, Florida; his brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Molly Ledger, Springfield, Missouri; his son, Brooks Ledger, Logansport; his daughter and son in-law, Mari and Mason Driver, Cherokee, North Carolina and his grandchildren, Lawson and Loraine Driver, Cherokee, North Carolina; and his two nephews, Alex Ledger, Boston Massachusetts, and Cole Ledger, Springfield, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his father, Laurence Ledger; and his sister, Deborah Ledger.
