Florence B. MaxsonFlorence B. Maxson, 97, of Logansport, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017, in Miller’s Merry Manor .

Born January 16, 1920, in Salem, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Ota M. (Haley) Babbs .

She was married to Donald E. Maxson who preceded her in death November 12, 1993.

Florence was retired from RBM/Essex Wire.

Florence was a member of the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church. She loved reading, Bingo, playing the organ, old Westerns and shuffleboard. She enjoyed gardening, especially raising flowers and being outdoors around all the critters in her yard – including the neighborhood eagle. She was a loyal Cubs fan and enjoyed watching Scottie Pippin and Tiger Woods.

Surviving are four children, Delores Fisher of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Donald L. (Linda) Maxson and Carol (Ed) Castor, all of Logansport, and James Maxson of Clearwater, Florida; several grandchildren great-great-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many wonderful caregivers and neighbors at Miller’s Merry Manor.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Pyles, Ruby Peden and Bernice Peden; and three brothers, Bill, Bob and Bud Babbs.

A memorial service celebrating Florence’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3 in Fisher Funeral Chapel. The family asks you to dress in casual attire.

Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service in the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Cancer Society, the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church or the Miller’s Merry Manor Activity Fund.
