According to a press release from Cass County Sheriff Randy Pryor, the Cass County 911 dispatch center was notified at 4:20 p.m. on Friday, May 19 of a crash on County Road 800 East involving a passenger vehicle and a Norfolk Southern train.

Pryor says that upon arrival at the scene, Cass County deputies discovered a sport utility vehicle had been struck by a train and pushed down the tracks to a location that was not easily accessible by emergency vehicles.

Logansport Road was closed for several hours as a result of the accident.

The driver of the car, Bradly X. Graves, 22, of Logansport, was flown from the scene to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Stefanie A. Carter, 42, and Nathan X. Gibbs, 19, both of Logansport, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Pryor says Graves and Gibbs are Stefanie Carter’s sons.

The crash is still under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department. They were assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police, New Waverly Fire Dept. and Prompt Ambulance Service.
