The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority Thursday voted to move ahead with plans for the renovation of a Logansport apartment building.

At its board meeting, it approved a $3.4 million bond and tax credits of another  $195,113 for a $4,791,792 rehabilitation of Cass Plaza Apartments.

Cass Plaza, 300 Cass Plaza Drive, is built on what was once the former Cass County Fairgrounds.

Mayor Dave Kitchell said today it is the first major improvement to the facility. The apartments are owned by Sheehan Development Company, Inc., Indianapolis.

“We’re grateful to James Curtis Jr. and his efforts to reinvest in Logansport. His example is a harbinger of what I think will be more investment in housing and apartment projects in the near future, and in the short run, it will put people to work,” he said.

Cass Plaza has 82 units, all of which are one-bedroom.
