Galveston boy pulled from creek

Galveston, IN – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the death of a 6 year old boy in Galveston. At approximately 8:15 pm last evening, first responders were dispatched to the area of the Galveston Park for a 6-year-old that had gone missing in the water.

Witnesses stated the boy was playing near the creek that flows near the park when he fell into the water and was unable to be located. First responders arrived on scene a short time later and began searching for the boy. Approximately 45 minutes after the initial 911 call, first responders located the boy in the water and immediately began CPR.

Jacob Robinson was transported to St Joseph Hospital in Kokomo where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death is pending for a medical examination.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department says Robinson, 6, lived in Galveston with his father, Evgenro Antonio Venegae, and his mother, Francisca Azucena Robinson.

Responding agencies included the Indiana Conservation Department, Galveston Police, Galveston Fire Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Department,  Walton Fire Department, Howard County Sheriff’s Department, Logansport Fire Department, Prompt Ambulance 42, Howard County EMA, St. Vincent Ambulance, Galveston EMS, Young America Fire Department and Cass County 911.

Conservation Officers want to stress the dangers of flood waters and swift water and the importance of avoiding those areas.
