Frye chosen as new assistant Logansport police chief

Last Updated on August 31, 2017 by cassnetwork

Police Chief-designate Rob Smith has turned to a 15-year veteran of the Logansport Police Department to be his second in command.

Dan Frye, a sergeant in the narcotics division, will succeed Smith as assistant chief when he takes over the chief position from Brad Rozzi next week. Frye previously served as a sergeant in the patrol division.

Mayor Dave Kitchell said Smith had two other quality applicants for the position from within the department.

“It made for a difficult choice because we have several good officers who are leaders and they give us depth from within the ranks,” Kitchell said. “We’re lucky to have them in both cases.”

Frye is a Logansport native and a Logansport High School graduate.
