Herman recognized as “Citizen of the Week”

The annual Summer Sundown concert series is over, and one of the key people who enabled it to happen is honored this week for his assistance.

Dave Herman has been an active supporter of the arts in Logansport for years. Herman thanked the audience attending Sunday night’s concert and invited them to the Sept. 16 Art on the Avenue Festival downtown.

Mayor Dave Kitchell said today it’s time for Herman to take a bow for all the work he has done behind the scenes to support local performances.

“Dave is one of the main reasons why Performing Arts Council concerts have gone so smoothly over the years,” Kitchell said. “While performers have done well on stage, Dave has been ensuring things happen as they should behind the curtain, and often well before a performer arrives.”

Kitchell said the new Summer Sundown series rotating location concept has been a success and drawn more people to city parks near them during the summer.

The 14-week series concluded Sunday with a concert by Cass County vocalist and guitarist Steve Michaels.

The Citizen of the Week honors Logansport native, current or former residents for their contributions. Recipients receive a certificate from the Mayor’s Office and a $20 gift certificate to a local restaurant.
